We’re out of January, the days are getting longer, which is good to see.
Now it’s February
I’ve had problems recently trying to upload photos to the blog on my iPad, so today I’m trying my phone. Not ideal because I could do with the larger screen.Lately I’ve been knitting Emotional Support Chickens requested by a local special needs school. The pattern is by The Knitting Tree LA. It’s an interesting pattern using short row shaping to create one pieced chicken shape with a diamond shaped piece for the underside. I used oddments of Stylecraft Special DK from previous blanket projects.
Here it is in Spatchcock form before sewing and stuffing.I enjoyed so much there was a second, this time in a speckled yarn. There is a third chicken underway, this time in just 2 colours, just like the original chickens.
I haven’t neglected the sewing. I’ve completed the latest Project Linus kit that I picked up last month.
.
This is the Easy Squares pattern and this kit features ladybirds, with 10” large squares with smaller 5” square sets. With that done I turned my interest to an old project. Some time ago I made a small quilt using panels called Dolly Dress Up, like the sort of dresses that would fit on a paper doll.
I made this quilt with Dresden Plate blocks and joined quilt as you go style. I bought two sets of 6 square panel (1 is used as a cushion cover) which I shared with my Mum. When she stopped sewing I got the second panel set back a few years ago. I’ve only just started on quilting these in the same quilting style.
They are small quilts 36” square, so they are likely to be wall hangings.
And as for the pic at the beginning of this post? This is a small hexagon quilt 12” x 13” made for an Orange challenge in 2012. I used a pattern from a jelly roll quilt book.
