July Already!!

Halfway through the year and wondering (like the rest of us) where this year has gone.  I am going through my photos of what I've done last month and the main focus has been on the Tubix quilt that I was testing out for Sue, the blog post is here.  This has taken a couple of weeks to make the quilt top and I will have to think about a backing and get some wadding (what I've got is not enough) before quilting it and it may have to wait until after the Festival of Quilts.

What else have I done?

At the beginning of June I finished a second feather cushion, the first of which was made in May.  A really bright pop of colour on our beige settee.  I've also finished my embroidered landscape last month,  using a silk paper background this has been free machined and I really love the effect.  This has now been pressed and ready to be framed and as you can see from the photo above I placed a mount over the picture to show how this will look.

Last week I made a new cover for my table top ironing board.  I also flattened out the mesh base, which was slightly bent and the little rubber feet were glued to the upright bits so they won't be moving around anymore.  With extra padding its a lot nicer to iron on too.

A few days ago I made some coupon holders which will make a nice small things to sell to help a group of ladies who make quilts for teenage cancer sufferers who stay at a holiday home in Bournemouth.  They will be having a stall at a local summer fete in August to raise funds so this is the start of my little bit to help them.  It'll also use up some scraps and pelmet Vilene, now that I don't make so many postcards. This will run into July.

I plan to do quilt another scrappy Trip Around the World quilt, top already sewn together and will have to look about how I quilt the remainder of the jungle quilt I made here

As for the rest of July?   David and I are also going on holiday in mid July, spending a few days in Maastricht, seeing a very special concert there, with the second week, who knows where.
